The
Climate Smart Irrigated Agriculture Project (CSIAP), funded by the World Bank, recently
distributed liquid fertilizer to 101 farmers of the Buduruwagala Farmer
Organization to support the cultivation of 41 hectares of Mung Bean under the
mid-season programme. The liquid fertilizer was provided to help farmers
achieve higher Mung Bean yields during the mid-season cultivation cycle. The
total value of the fertilizer delivered was Rs. 37,312. The distribution
ceremony was held recently in Buduruwagala under the patronage of Mr. P.B.
Wijerathne, Chief Secretary of Uva Province. The event was organized by Mr.
I.H. Dharmarasekara, Provincial Deputy Project Director of CSIAP for Uva
Province. and his provincial staff.The
event was attended by Mr. G. Samarasinghe, District Secretary, Monaragala, Mr.
R.M.T.B. Hathiyaldeniya, Agriculture Secretary, Uva Province, Mr. Chandana
Ratnayake, Divisional Secretary, Wellawaya, along with officials from the
Provincial Irrigation Department, Interprovincial and Provincial Departments of
Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Development, CSIAP, and members of the
Buduruwagala Farmer Organization.
